Penny Awards


​​​St Thomas More College Penny Awards

Wednesday 31st July saw the annual Penny Awards take place at STMC.

The Penny Awards, named after Brisbane artist, Penny Everingham, are held annually at the College. This Awards night provides students, who wish to extend themselves in the area of Drama, the opportunity to perform a monologue or duologue before an audience and panel of adjudicators. The guest adjudicators are working professionals in the Arts and provide students with positive and constructive feedback. Students are critiqued on voice, movement, character, use of space and interpretation of the script.

This year, saw 26 STMC students from Years 7 – 12 present either individually or collectively over 20 acts to a well-received audience and esteemed judging panel. The adjudicators presented a Junior, Senior and Overall Penny Award for the most highly developed, outstanding and entertaining dramatic performance. This year these awards were presented to:​

  • Junior Penny Winner: Harrison Franklin (Yr 9)
  • ​​​​Senior Penny Winner: Bryanna Hoswell (Yr 10)
  • Overall Penny Winner: Ella Baxter (Yr 11)

​Congratulations to the participants, winners and all involved, in again making the Penny Awards a successful, memorable and most enjoyable event!
