Queensland Catholic Schools & Colleges Music Festival Success

​​​The Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival (QCMF) is the premier event on Queensland's Catholic Schools and Colleges annual music and arts calendar and is co-ordinated by Villanova College at Coorparoo. The QCMF is a celebration of all things musical covering a diverse range of genres within the classical and contemporary styles. Performers range from six to eighteen years of age and participate in brass, wind, string, percussion, jazz and choral ensembles including a magnificent combination of these in choirs, orchestras and a variety of bands' (Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival, 2017).

This year, the annual QCMF was from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 August 2019, held at Villanova College. For this, STMC entered 10 Ensembles/Bands into the QCMF – the largest number ever entered by the College. With STMC receiving 5 gold and 5 silver medals and the following Ensembles placing:

  • ​Concert Band - GOLD
  • Contemporary Band - SILVER
  • Contemporary Choir - SILVER
  • Drum Line - SILVER
  • Guitar Ensemble - GOLD
  • Jazz Ensemble - GOLD
  • Performance Choir - SILVER
  • Sax Ensemble - GOLD
  • String Ensemble - SILVER
  • Wind Ensemble - GOLD.
