STMC named among Queensland's top affordable private schools

St Thomas More College (Sunnybank) has been ranked 13th in a recent Courier-Mail analysis of Queensland's top affordable private schools, with the list focused on schools with average fees, charges and parent contributions of $10,000 or less per student.

In the published ranking table, St Thomas More College is shown at rank 13, listed as Sunnybank, with a ranking score of 553.2.

The analysis states it used the latest available education data and assessed more than 800 eligible schools nationally, applying a weighted formula across five criteria to produce a final ranking score. Those criteria are listed as:

  • 2025 NAPLAN Year 9 results across five subjects
  • 2025 NAPLAN Year 7 results across five subjects
  • Student attendance (proportion attending at least 90% of the time)
  • Student–teacher ratio (based on full-time equivalent teaching staff and enrolments)
  • ICSEA (Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage) rating

The piece also notes it used techniques to account for outlier results and references My School / ACARA as the underlying data source.

Furthermore, NAPLAN data released late last year saw St Thomas More College recognised among Queensland's Top 20 schools for above-average student gains in one or more of the key domains: reading, writing and numeracy.

For the College community, high expectations, excellent teaching and learning, measurable growth and genuine affordability define what matters most to families.
